Backup iPhone messages to computer and convert into Pdf or Excel format.
Apple has created so many options for its users which will make them happy. But unfortunately one of the weaknesses of Apple is that the company does not allow you to make a backup of your SMS and iMessage conversations. Fortunately, there is a solution to make a backup of your SMS conversations.
In this article we will show you how to save your SMS and iMessages from your IOS device to your computer and make them readable. The method is based on the creation of a backup file from iTunes, and then extract the SMS database within the backup file and then export it in a format readable with a compliant application. Here’s how:
Step 1: First you need to make a backup your device to your computer. Normally, backup is performed automatically when we synchronize our device with iTune, but if you’re saving data to iCloud and not to the computer, you can either change the setting altogether in iTunes, or you can click on the “Backup Now” (as shown in screenshot) button and the backup will begin to create.
Step 2: Once the backup is complete, you may proceed to the next step. The backup path will vary depending on the operating system you’re using, so here we share the different routes for different OS:
- Windows XP: C: \ Documents and Settings> [username]> Application Data> Apple Computer> MobileSync> Backup
- Windows 7 and 8: C: \ Users> [username]> AppData> Roaming> Apple Computer> MobileSync> Backup
- OS X: User> Library> Application Support> MobileSync> Backup
Select the file and drag it to a convenient location where you want to save the file to make it safe and secure.
Step 3: Naturally, the file has been encrypted so that it can not be easily read by others, so we must restore to an external service to circumvent that protection. We recommend iPhone-SMS to do this, which will allow you to upload the file to their website and the web app will help you to choose the export format (Excel, PDF or html) that you want.
Share the tip with your friends and let us know if the iPhone SMS Backup solution works for you.
